oceana, part of the exclusive ocean reef development in panama city, is a 6-story high-end residential building designed with performance at its core. entrópica collaborated with the project team to ensure that sustainability and livability were not secondary features, but integral to the architecture from the earliest stages.
smarter cooling for a tropical climate
panama’s hot, humid environment makes cooling one of the largest energy demands in residential projects. for oceana, entrópica applied advanced energy modeling and passive design strategies to refine the building envelope and systems.
the result:
- 18% reduction in cooling load compared to the baseline case.
this translates directly to smaller HVAC system requirements, lower operating costs, and reduced environmental impact over the building’s lifetime.
light as a design resource
daylight was treated not only as an aesthetic element but as a measurable performance metric. using climate-based daylight simulations, we optimized façade design, glazing ratios, and interior layouts.
the result:
- 52% increase in daylight access across occupied spaces.
residents enjoy brighter interiors, reduced reliance on artificial lighting during the day, and improved visual comfort, all without compromising thermal performance.
architecture and performance, aligned
oceana demonstrates how high-end living and environmental responsibility can coexist. its refined design language, premium amenities, and exclusive location are matched by quantifiable performance gains that deliver long-term value for residents and developers alike.
entrópica’s role was to ensure that the building is not only visually striking, but also responsive to its climate, efficient in its operation, and future-ready.
