concept design

the foundational service. this is where the decisions that move a building's energy the most get made, before the design is committed.

the basic, required service and almost always where the energy gains are largest. we define the program around the sun and the elements of the site, and we set the energy goals along with their feasibility. orientation, footprint, and the big shading decisions are resolved with climate evidence, because the cheapest move in any building is the one that happens before the lines are drawn.

architectural design + coordination

the construction-documents phase: materials, assemblies, and systems, coordinated to meet or beat the energy goals.

the construction-drawings phase. materials, assemblies, and systems are decided here, and we hold coordination workshops with the structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical engineers so the project meets, or exceeds, the energy goals set at concept.

preliminary designs and drawings approved, backed by more than ten years of experience in the municipality of panamá and countrywide.

more than ten years approving preliminary designs (anteproyecto) and miscellaneous and construction drawings in the municipality of panamá and across the country. we write the documents the way they will be read, by the office processing the permit, and by the contractor estimating the build.

energy + performance advisory

data-based answers to energy questions, for consultancy, certification, or already-built projects.

fits consultancy, certification, or already-built projects. we give data-based answers to concrete energy questions: whether to widen an opening, whether a more insulated façade pays for itself. we run ASHRAE 90.1 energy simulations for LEED and EDGE certifications, and support the documentation through final delivery.

these services apply to architectural projects, where the envelope is still to be defined, and to interior-design projects, where the envelope is fixed and the work is rearranging spaces and systems to win thermal comfort with what is already there. our guide on sustainable architecture in panamá explains the envelope logic behind both.

the starting point matters less than it looks. daylight, water cost, and thermal comfort are not separate problems with separate certifications. they are one energy question, answered against the climate where the building will actually stand. a brief that opens with rainwater or natural light still ends up here.
